As a bookkeeper, I spend a lot of my time looking at computer screens. This can sometimes lead to dry eyes, blurred vision, eye pain and headaches.
The good news is you can avoid this by following the twenty twenty rule.
Every twenty minutes look away from your screen and spend twenty seconds looking at something in the distance.
This will give your eyes a chance to readjust. A break from the screen helps reduce computer vision syndrome and can also help you stay more productive for longer.
Don't forget to blink often. When we stare at a computer screen, we tend not to blink enough. Making an effort to blink often will help keep your eyes lubricated, reducing dry eyes and eye strain.
Finally don't forget to visit an optometrist at least once a year for an eye exam.
